Testimonials

We have a house full of Shepherds at various ages. Last year, when one of our amazing dogs passed away suddenly, I did ton of research on kibble and decided to make the switch to raw food. I went to see Lori and her gang because,at first, I was totally overwhelmed. What do I feed? How much? In what proportions? I had a ton of questions. The group at Heronview are supportive. They know their stuff. The first day I was there, Lori spent over an hour with me, laying out the menu and food guide for each of my dogs. She kept reassuring me that after a few months, I’d be fine and everything would be second nature – and she was right. My dogs all love raw food. The oldest was 12 when I switched them over and she has never been healthier. Our dogs all have their own favorite feast, and there is a great selection at Heronview, so there is always something new for them to try.
Thanks so much to Lori and all the staff at Heronview.

We had struggled with finding a food that didn’t make our dogs sick since bringing them home as 8 week old puppies. Everything we tried gave them diarrhea and gas. We went through at least 6 different brands of kibble in the first year and a half of their lives. We were constantly at the vet with them, thinking they had allergies or other digestive problems, putting them on antibiotics to try to get rid of stomach bugs, etc… Our male almost died at 10 weeks old from a misdiagnosis by a vet and after that could never catch up enough weight so that we couldn’t see his ribs and hips. If they ever got a scratch or small wound, it took forever to heal. They just weren’t healthy dogs.
A friend told us about Heronview and we made the trip on Saturday afternoon to speak with Lori. She was amazing and explained everything about raw feeding that we needed to know from the meat/bone/organ ratios down to supplements. The how’s and the why’s.
Our dogs have been on raw since January 2019 (5 months,) and the difference in our dogs is absolutely mind blowing!! Their coats are like silk and any time one of them gets a scratch, it’s healed in a week. Our male has caught up in weight and they have both filled out beautifully. Even better – we haven’t been to the vet (other than just for their yearly exam!) They FINALLY have normal poops and rarely have gas! We’ve also noticed an increase in their concentration and training retention as well. Raw is by far the BEST decision we’ve made for our dogs and we will go to Heronview for life! They have an incredible selection of proteins, a great range of supplements and their prices are fantastic! They know what they are doing and if you haven’t gone raw, I highly suggest you give Lori a visit!

My Havanese rescue, Sammy, was almost 7 when I adopted him. I noticed that every time he stretched he would creak and crack and I could hear all his joints popping, but I figured that was just how he was and I didn’t really think too much more of it at the time as it didn’t seem to bother him. I had been researching raw for a bit (not because of his creakiness, but just because I had heard about it and thought it might be the wise way to go). Anyway, I decided to put him on a raw, species-appropriate diet from Heronview, including Feedsentials and Shemp as advised by Lori. About two to three weeks after the switch I incidentally noticed that when Sammy stretched he didn’t make any nasty noises, so I made a point of paying attention the next few times, and guess what? His joints completely stopped making any noises at all, even first thing in the morning with lots of big stretches. Clearly, something was amiss or inappropriate in his diet and the switch to raw had rectified the situation. I was pleasantly surprised and haven’t looked back since.

My weekend routine always includes a stop at Heronview Raw and Natural. Here you may be greeted by some ducks, chickens or even an Alpaca or two. Walk in the store and get a warm welcome from all the Leo’s who are calm and gentle in nature. You will not believe the selection of raw food and the prices. If that weren’t enough Lori carefully checks out her suppliers, and knows where and how the product was raised. Lori and the staff are friendly and their knowledge is second to none. They will have all kinds of suggestions and tips and more than willing to discuss with you any questions you may have. Not sure about where to get started? Stop in and have a conversation, Lori has a starter plan suited to your furry family member. Not feeding raw? The store will still have something for you, from natural pet care products to on-site dehydrated treats your dogs will love.

Heronview – 2 paws up!

Hi Lori,

Feeding raw always made so much sense to us, however it seemed like a very expensive, even extravagant way to go. For the first two years of her life, our dog was on high quality kibble, sardines, home made cooked mixes with barley, veggies and meat ( time consuming) and a fresh chicken leg or ground beef on occasion. She was healthy, but had a distinctive doggie smell, she tooted quite a bit and shed enough in the spring and fall to make another dog.

When we discovered Heronview, we realized that raw feeding does not have to be pricy. We love the fact that you can buy a variety of meats packed in small amounts. One day Ellie will have ground chicken with bone, offal and tripe, the next she will get game, a bit of tongue, half a chicken carcass, some offal and tripe, then the day after it will be time for beef. We have also been giving her the K9 Feed-sentials.

Soon after switching to raw, Ellie lost her doggie smell, the flatulence stopped completely. In the spring and fall she hardly shed. Her urine doesn’t leave yellow circles on the lawn and her poops are small and disintegrate in a short time. She also stopped drinking from every possible puddle and only on occasion drinks from her bowl. She seems to get enough water through her food.

I wish I lived closer to Heronview and could visit the store more often. The staff is very knowledgable, they all have raw fed dogs and cats of their own and are more than happy to take time with every client. Being a city person, coming out to Heronview and seeing all of Lori’s animals, makes each visit a treat.
